Here's another look at the ribbed pattern on Ramma

Here's another look at the ribbed pattern on Rammage. I used @edencottageyarns stunning Hayton 4ply yarn, which is always my favourite for fingerless mitts. It's buttery soft, has fantastic stitch definition and Victoria's colours are stunning! This one is called Robin's Egg!

My tester's mitts are all up on my blog so you can see them in all the sizes and see the yarns they used if you're looking for other ideas!

It's release day! This release is really exciting

It's release day! This release is really exciting for me because, as well as being my first pattern of 2025, it’s also my 100th pattern!

For my 100th pattern I wanted to make something that was very me and really shows who I am as a designer. I think Rammage is the perfect pattern for that! Rammage is a quick knit with plenty of stocking stitch and and easy relaxing knitting, but also has a dramatic pattern that is truly eye-catching and much easier to knit that you might think!

The name is a Scots word meaning wild and untamed, and the ribbed pattern reminds me of owls (and has similarities to Cailleach-Oidhche) or stags heads (like the staghorn cable on Fearthainn) or waves (like Keechan), and sometimes it looks like interlocking hearts. All sorts of wild, untamed things you can find!

Today's #MarchMeetTheMaker is tools, and I , of course, have all the usual knitterly tools, stitch markers and blocking things, scales and measuring tools, scissors and knitting needles. But honestly, what I use most is pencil and paper - for the designing stages and my computer for the pattern writing, charting, photo editing, website maintenance, and all the boring admin stuff!

For today's #MarchMeettheMaker we're talking about colour! This is always one of the biggest choices I have to make. Sometimes I have an obvious theme - like leaves or waves which will sway me one way or another, but a lot of the time I can pick whatever I like!

Today's #MarchMeetTheMaker prompt is "Decisions". I am naturally a very indecisive person, but being a designer everything I do comes with choices. My usual trick is to get my husband to choose for me and if I don't like his answer, that makes my choice for me! Some choices are easy though, like choosing @EdenCottageyarns Hayton 4 ply in Robin's Egg for my next mitt pattern! Isn't it gorgeous?

Today's #MarchMeetTheMaker is scenes, so I thought

Today's #MarchMeetTheMaker is scenes, so I thought I'd take you behind the scenes of one of my photo shoots! This is Driùchdan which I released in 2022. I used to go out and take the photos at castles or in forests, but then I had to model, my husband had to take the photos and after we had kids it just became a lot trickier to co-ordinate, so now I make do with my living room! Unfortunately it's not very big, so I have to clear most of the furniture out and put it in the other half of the room so it's quite an undertaking. Swipe to the end for my dog, Skye, who is not impressed with the disruption to her morning!
