Meaning lines in Scottish Gaelic, Loidhne is an asymmetrical shawl knitted from the point sideways with graduating stripes and two lace sections. Named for the lace pattern this is a relaxing knit using two colours – pick your favourite colours, or a neutral and a bright or variegated yarn – there are so many possibilities! This asymmetric triangular shawl is perfect for the changing seasons.

- 400 m (437 yds) of Banshee Yarns Silky Singles (70% Superwash Merino, 30% Silk, 437 yds/100g) in Priestess (Colour A)
- 400 m (437 yds) in Mist (Colour B)
- 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles, 100 cm (40”) or longer (or straight needles)
- 2 stitch markers
- Yarn needle for sewing in ends
- Blocking mat and pins
Gauge
23 stitches and 27 rows in 10 cm (4”) in Right Leaning Lace after blocking.
Differences in gauge will affect the amount of yarn used and may also change the size of the finished shawl.
