Feathered Lace

A cowlette knit in brown yarn with a textured slipped stitch pattern on the body, a wide lace border and a rippling bind-offI enjoyed knitting Rinlet, my first DK cowlette, so much I couldn’t wait to knit another one and the tail end of winter seemed like the perfect time to fit one in. The weather here has been cooperating too as we keep getting a hint of spring before the temperatures drop again, so I’ve appreciated the extra warmth!

I’ve been waiting ages for the perfect opportunity to use the slipped stitch pattern. A close up on the spine of a cowlette knit in brown yarn with a textured slipped stitch pattern on the body and a wide lace borderI’ve loved it for ages, but it needs the right gauge to look its best so it took a while to find the perfect project for it! I paired it with this gorgeous mesh lace that you’ve probably seen me use before. I love how the passed over stitches continue the horizontal line of the slipped stitches through to the edge of the cowlette.

The name Whitterick is a Scots word for a curlew. They’re really pretty wading birds with long, slightly curved beaks.

The Curlew’s Call

When I knit Whitterick, I knew almost immediately that I wanted to turn the whole thing into a shawl as well. The texture and the drape are so beautiful that I wanted something I could really wrap myself in! I of course, made it with Lottie Knits Aglow DK. It may be my favourite DK

Burnished Copper

For my latest pair of fingerless mitts I really wanted to play with twisted rib again. I also really wanted to make another pair similar to Dealas with a textured pattern across the back of the hand. So I combined the two ideas and we got Coppersmith! It’s a really fun pattern and once you’re
