Back in October when I was knitting Buinne and Fearthainn which weren’t particularly portable projects, I picked out a skein of yarn from my stash and cast on a couple of toes but then I got stuck deciding on a pattern (by someone else) to use. Eventually, I decided that the cable pattern from Lùbach was exactly what I needed – a simple relaxing pattern up the outside of the foot to keep things interesting and plenty of stockinette for car knitting or so I could read while knitting them. If there’s something I love it’s a pattern I can work on while I read or chat with people – my hands always need to be busy! And so, Lùbach Socks were born.
This is Felt Fusion ‘s Sweet Pea which she dyed for the @flowerpowerfund in 2018. The Flower Power Fund is raising money for Marie Curie UK again this year, so please do go check it out! If I’d planned this out I probably wouldn’t have used a speckled yarn, but I actually really like how it’s turned out. The speckles provide interest but don’t interfere with the cable pattern too much so everything is beautifully clear still.
